ABOUT THE LA ALIANZA CONFERENCE
La Alianza, the Latinx/Hispanic organization at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), is eager to launch their first conference event in the Fall 2020. La Alianza serves the community, celebrates the Latinx/Hispanic culture, and supports Latinx/Hispanic students at CWRU. As an organization, La Alianza prides itself in fostering a space for Latinx and Hispanic students on campus to grow and thrive as individuals and as members of the CWRU community. We aim to support our members on an academic, social, and cultural level.
This two day conference serves as a platform to provide La Alianza members, CWRU students, and community partners with opportunities to develop academically and professionally at any stage of their undergraduate career. This goal will be fulfilled through workshops with on campus and off campus partners, as well as with an added focus on cultural awareness and appreciation. Featured workshops include:
Students will be eligible to receive accreditation from CWRU's Office of the Provost via the Northstar Experience. For more information, read below! In addition, people who register for the conference can opt to donate for the La Alianza sponsored Diego Barrera Bayona Scholarship, which is a scholarship that La Alianza members can apply to in order to relieve the financial burden of attending college. |

NORTH STAR EXPERIENCE
People who complete La Alianza Conference 2020 North Star Experience, available for anyone who attends the conference, will receive a general certificate of recognition for completing the conference North Star Experience based on a specific required number of sessions that people have to attend. People can qualify for certificates of recognition with special focuses depending on what sessions they attend as specified by the course. CWRU Students can qualify for a limited number of badges, which will be attained by a short essay/reflection contest on specific sessions attended.* All certificates and badge credentials will be issued by Case Western Reserve University Office of the Provost. La Alianza Conference North Star Experience has a limited capacity of 150 registrants.

Badge: Dedication to Advancing Latinx/Hispanic Affairs
Description: In this conference, themes regarding Latinx Identity, mental health awareness, and activism in the community were addressed. The purpose of this badge would be to recognize select individuals with a dedicated commitment to advancing Latinx/Hispanic affairs in their personal and professional life. Only CWRU Undergraduate Students are eligible to receive a badge.

- Creating and Enhancing Your LinkedIn Profile w/ Office of Post-Graduate Planning and Experiential Education
- Required to write a 250 word reflection answering the following:
- How do you plan to use the knowledge obtained from these sessions to advance Latinx/Hispanic Affairs in your life?
- How do you plan to use the knowledge obtained from these sessions to advance Latinx/Hispanic Affairs in your life?
- Must attend at least 6 sessions
- There are no specifications for sessions you can attend.
- Sessions Required to attend include:
- Faculty Panel w/ Alianza Faculty
- Staying Politically Informed w/ HOLA
- Panel on Immigration w/ Dr. Flores and the Interreligious Task Force (IRTF)
- Multicultural Mental Health w/ Latinx Therapy
- Required to attend at least four of the following sessions:
