Grass Roots Campaign Work
>> The following information was provided to us by Jessica Crabtree, Field Organizer with Grassroots Campaign, Inc.
"This summer, we're working to keep our democracy strong by building up a huge team of remote callers to reach out to voters between now and Election Day. We will be phone-banking for progressive advocacy groups as well as political candidates to ensure that we remain politically engaged amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The best way we can ensure our voice is heard is by getting as many people involved as possible. We encourage people of all skill levels and experience to apply. Whether a political science major or just someone looking to get involved in this critical election year, come join our team!
Available positions (full and part-time) are paid $15/hr and revolve around phone banking (from home, of course) as a part of various short and longer-term campaigns and initiatives - for example, calling Pennsylvania voters to sign up for mail-in voting (we did this a few weeks ago), or calling voters in Tennessee to advocate for lower utility bills and to increase access to clean renewable energy (a current project).
Additionally, if you have graduated (or know any graduates) and would be interested in moving to Colorado for a few weeks, we are hiring full-time campaign organizers for an election-related project engaging persuadable voters there as well.
Any interested students/recent graduates can email me and I will send them our interest form to get the application process started: [email protected]"

AmeriCorps Opportunity, Apply by May 29th
>> The following blurb was provided to us by Todd Marsh (he/him/his), Regional Recruitment Director, Midwest
"At City Year, we believe that all children can succeed, and that student potential is limitless. However, access to educational opportunity varies due to system inequity in our country. Each year, we hire over 3,000 people to serve as AmeriCorps Members with us for 10 months, working in under-served public schools to help balance the scales. In 29 locations across the country, they work on teams and in collaboration with our public-school partners to provide additional adult support to students who need it. Serving as tutors and mentors, these AmeriCorps Members use a research-based approach to assist teachers and get their students back on track towards graduation.
During their gap year of service, City Year AmeriCorps Members receive a living stipend, health benefits, professional development, student loan forbearance, an education award of approximately $6,000, and access to a variety of graduate school scholarships through our University Partnerships program.
City Year is currently in the process of hiring people from all majors to serve as AmeriCorps Members during the 2020-2021 school year, with full-time positions starting next July and August. Our next application deadline is coming up on May 29th. Interested candidates can complete the application at www.cityyear.org.
If you would like more information, please fill out this form or email Todd Marsh at [email protected]"
